Bangalore episode of MIA SHEROES Summit 2017 puts up
a successful show

The fifth edition of India’s largest forum for women focuses onflexible yet stable professional growth opportunities
Bangalore July 31st, 2017: She is well educated, ambitious, financially independent, has an active work life and BAMM! The predictable happens. Her marriage, motherhood or maybe some health issues force her to take that obligatory career break! Whether she likes it or not. What next? It can go on for the next three months, 6 months, one year or even a couple of years due to unwanted circumstances and more so because of lack of opportunities and flexible work options. Fortunately, technology is here to make this transition of resuming work an absolutely smooth affair for hundreds of women out there. It is not only promoting a sustainable work-life balance for women but also empowering them to take matters into their own hands and become their own bosses. Besides just work, tech is also opening up new avenues for support, mentorship, and networking. These were some of the major highpoints of discussion during the MIA SHEROES Summit 2017 held in association with The Little Company, Klay Prep School & Daycares, ZOHO and Paytm today.

In partnership with CNBC, Inc 42, 91Springboard, the mentorpreneurs, Spacewhiz and styling Partner, FableStreet, the 5thEdition of the MIA SHEROES Summit held at ITC Windsor, Bangalore was themed as #FutureOfWork. The event emphasized on the fundamental effort of SHEROES -- India’s largest platform and a nurturing ecosystem for ambitious and aspirational women – in engaging, inspiring and motivating women to discover a profession to fit their life and personal growth. The event also enabled them to tap into the #FutureOfWork project and seek resources to realize their goals, both personal and professional.

On the sidelines of the summit, Sairee Chahal, Founder & CEO, SHEROES, said:“Through this year’s summit, we are making women realize that factors such as childbirth or any other challenges being faced in pursuit of their career are no more a hurdle.Byleading these intelligentand independent women towards custom-fitwork optionsthat can promise them a smooth transition in resuming work, we want to emphasize on the idea that women can, indeed, experience both flexibility and stability at the same time in their quest for furthering their professional aspirations without having to worry about the 9-5 cycle. Moreover,it will also give these young, aspiring and ambitious women the freedom and inspiration to carve out their own future. We are also emphasizing on mentoring early-age startups to create custom-fit work opportunities and focus more on creating flexible workplaces for women to grow and thrive as professionals.”

The event started with a keynote by SHEROES speaker followed by the first session of panel discussions on professionals who are #BestatWork, which included pioneers and luminaries from the business world such as Kuppulakshmi Krishnamoorthy (Product Evangelist, ZOHO Corporation), Neha Myer (Head, Business Development , Klay Prep School & Daycares), Ashish Bhatt (MD, Zynteo) and Sunil Rao (Partner, Business Services Lightspeed India Partner Advisers LLP).

Deepika Tewari, General Manager,Marketing, Jewellery Division, Titan Company Limited added,“The workforce of the future will consist mostly of millennials, who are inherently inclined towards entrepreneurship. Which is just well, because there are numerous examples to suggest that women entrepreneurs tend to be more ambitious and more successful than their male counterparts. Women also rank higher than men in leadership effectiveness, and are better at using soft skills delivering superior business performance. On the corporate front, businesses want to recruit and retain more and more women employees today than in the past. I personally recommend that more female student should pursue STEM or business courses. But I believe that the single most important skill that you, as a professional, need to learn is reinvent yourself- to let go of who you are today, and recreate yourself as the job environment around you changes.

One of the key attractions of the Summit’s afternoon was a hard-hitting slam poetry session by popular Bangalore and Singapore-based poet Nupur Saraswat, who emphasized on thecomplicities assumed in gender roles through her impactful words and powerful voice. The session was trailed by a session on ‘Designing the Future’ by Babita Baruah, the Managing Partner of Global Team Blue India followed by a rejuvenating drumming session by Fakhroddin Ghaffari. Another key highlight of the event was onsite Daycare Centre at the Summit set up by Klay Prep Schools & Daycares for the kids of the audience.

The MIA SHEROES Summit 2017 concluded with a melodious presentation by Sufi sensation Sonam Kalra & the Sufi Gospel Projectand a Networking & Open House session welcoming the audience to socialize and share their experiences. After the Bangalore session, the Summit will now proceed towards Kolkata (5th August) and Chennai (19th August).
